The Constitution Act was, in 1867, previously called the British North America Act. Queen Elizabeth II brought the act into effect with a proclamation she signed in Ottawa (Canada’s national capital city) on April 17, 1982.
Only one Canadian province (in Canada, instead of States, we have Provinces) to not approve of the Constitution Act was Quebec. The Meech Lake & Charlottetown Accords were created in order to try to get approval from Quebec.
Below are 2 links about the Constitution Act, and links for the 2 above mentioned doccuments. I encourage you all to read at least the 3 links from Wikipedia. The 2nd link for the Constitution is the whole document & probably is too long a read. Enjoy & hope that you all learn more about Canada & our history.
